Victor Mac Mahon

Victor Mac Mahon is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Manchester.

A lifelong skateboarder and artist; he relocated from Dublin to study Fine art. Graduating with a  BA (Hons) in Sculpture from Manchester Metropolitan university. He is heavily influenced by the Punk aesthetic and  D.I.Y. culture in skateboarding. Likewise the use of recycled timber, found materials and repurposing have always been a feature of his work. Rooted in traditional woodworking techniques the vibrant colours and patterns of his pieces are the result of employing used skateboard ‘decks’ as the raw material in his practice. This waste material not only links directly to the streets of Manchester and the visceral act of skateboarding but lends the work a narrative of rebirth and redemption.Much like his chosen mode of transport his practice is constantly exploring and evolving. Recent projects and commissions have involved restoring treasured vintage hand tools and furniture with the salvaged material. He also produces sculpture, jewellery and vessels.
